Terrell A. Blount is an accomplished motivational speaker, mentor, and activist for justice reform and civil rights. He is the Executive Director of the Formerly Incarcerated College Graduates Network (FICGN), a leading national nonprofit organization empowering system-impacted people with over 1,500 formerly incarcerated scholars across 45 U.S. states and several other countries.
With his extensive professional experience and personal expertise, Terrell is a sought-after leader in the higher education and justice space, having led numerous policy change and advocacy efforts, program developments, and strategic implementations of prison and reentry programs, including the New Jersey Scholarship of Transformative Education in Prison (NJ-STEP) and the Alliance for Higher Education in Prison. As Program Officer of Higher Education in Prison (HEP) at the Laughing Gull Foundation, Terrell managed a grant portfolio of college-in-prison programs in the south and prioritized BIPOC and directly-impacted led organizations.
Terrell also served as Program Associate for The Vera Institute of Justice, providing technical assistance for college programs under the Second Chance Pell program. Terrell holds a BA in Communication from the School of Communication & Information and an MPA in Nonprofit Management from the School of Public Affairs and Administration at Rutgers University.
